Thrilled to Meet Santa

Ogden joined toddlers around the world in a moment of dismay as we cheerfully plopped him down on some old guy's lap and snapped a few photos. He's been getting more into the Holiday spirit though, now that I pulled out his stocking and explained how Santa will fill it with candy and toys.

Gobble, gobble

After picking up Uncle Dave from the airport, we headed straight to Los Poblanos for the 2nd annual turkey 'harvest'. Og picked out a mighty hen, and then supervised as Dave and Dad 'processed' her.

She cooked up real nice. We headed over to the Else's house for Thanksgiving dinner with the Sullivan-Overgaards (along with a special appearance by Seba). Mom and Sidsel outdid themselves in the side dish preparation. Then during dinner Uncle Dave regaled us all in the true meaning of Thanksgiving as a celebration of Capitalism.

Og the Baker

Under the tuteledge of master-baker Mom, Oggie has honed his bread-baking skills. Here are some shots of his first masterpiece; mixed, kneaded, formed and baked by Og himself. The proof was, as you can see, in the eating.

Happy Halloween!

So, Og had his first Jack-o-lantern carving experience! He was a bit apprehensive of all the wierd pumpkin innards, but he liked helping Mom draw out the face. After getting that squared away, Og slipped into his Halloween costume--a chicken...what else?!--and partied the night away with Puff the Dragon (aka Ezekiel). There was plenty of high fructose corn syrup for everyone!

Back Home

We landed back home in time for the (post-)Harvest Festival at Los Poblanos Organics, south valley unit. After listening to some tunes by 3 String Bale in the beer garden and checking out the ponies, we headed to the pumpkin patch for yet another photo op.

Austin Pumpkin Patch

After our snowy adventure to the north, we headed south to Texas. Here are some shots of Oggie with pals Bella and Ellie Bay at the St. Richard's pumpkin patch in Round Rock.

Rocky Mountain High

Oggie headed up I-25, straight to Colorado Springs to pay a visit to Aunt Cyndee. We were welcomed by some snowy weather and spent most of the time indoors. Here are some shots when Og and Jess headed out for some frolicking in the snow.

Balloon Fiesta 2009

It's that time of year again. The weather turns and once again it seems as if Albuquerque has managed to select the only week it will receive any rain to host an international hot air balloon fiesta. After the rain yesterday, we had a beautiful morning for watching the balloons. Oggie had a blast with Myla and Eden and two new buddies from Oregon.

downhill fun!

Ok, so I probably won't win any Parent of the Year awards from this, but it's too fun not to share:

And then they trusted me enough to do it again...

Hat tip to Kathryn for the throw-back vids.

rainy day harvest

Og took advantage of some rainy weather to try out his prized rain jacket that he picked up at a thrift store in Stockholm. While he was busy puddle hoppin', Mom harvested some tomatoes and peppers.

The Ogden Prayer

If you're crunched for time, but still want to offer a blessing for your meal, try the Ogden prayer: [as said daily before dinner, holding hands] "God, thanks, food, amen."

The great mint harvest

So Og just harvested his weight in spearmint, peppermint, and lemon balm! Now we just have to figure out what to do with it...
