So Long Thanksgiving

Good grief, is it still Turkey Day '08 around here? Well dear readers, if there are any of you left after that 2 month stall, Mom is taking over and moving the Klatts into 2009. So in the spirit of hope, change and progress, here is an update on the Querque Klatt holidays. Click on the photos to see the full web albums.

Just before Christmas, the Pittmans arrived and whisked us all away to beautiful Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Oggie enjoyed some time for quiet reflections and a cleansing soak in the hot springs to close out the advent season.

Trim up the tree! Og was delighted when Cito and Dad brought a nine-foot evergreen right into the house.

Christmas Day in the morning.
Presents!

And wonder upon wonders: after all of the glorious Christmas festivities at home and a joyful service at St. John's, Ogden awoke from his afternoon nap to find a birthday party, his birthday party!

The day after Christmas, we were off again, this time to ski Pajarito. Ogden had a blast playing in the snow, and he surprised us all with his flexibility in napping on Dad's jacket on the floor of the lodge.

For his first trip of 2009, Ogden headed south to visit Nana in Tatum. He had a great time trying new things like yard darts and Nana's famous macaroni and cheese.

Turkey Day

Og's first extra-utero Thanksgiving was great! Mom made a yummy spread, with assistance from Cita, Gran and Aunt Cyndee; uncles Paul and Dave kept Og entertained; and Granddad and Cito (formerly Daddy Curtis) caught up over a few homebrews. Even though our furniture was in perpetual shuffle, no one even noticed that we lost 700 square feet in house size.

Turkey Time

So we started a new tradition this year: the 'harvesting' of the Thanksgiving turkey. We cruised up to the Los Poblanos farm, picked our hen, and went to work. Og was, uh, not sure about the whole thing.

Uncle Bob

Uncle Bob came up to ABQ for a quick pre-Thankgiving visit. Og had a great time explaining all the complexities contained in Dada's homebrews. Oggie also introduced Bob to many of his new friends that stop by the porch to chat.

Brewing Time

Og helped Dada brew up some pumpkin ale the other day. Because Dada's first "full mash" brew at one point requires multiple levels for the brewing apparatus, Og happily donated the use of his new learning tower for the effort.

All Hallow's Eve

Had a great time last night. Og was in full character: charming guests, handing out candy, and enjoying some mulled wine on the porch. Og even got his first experience with nougat via a contraband Milky Way...it was love at first sight.

Pumpkin Patch

Big day for Og today. Met up with some friends at the chilly Farmer's Market. Then had a nap on the stroll home. Then Christie and Shane came over and we all went to the McCall's Pumpkin Patch. After hunting for pumpkins and cruising through the corn maize, we headed to the Sierra Blanca Brewery down the road in Moriarty. It just so happens that they were hosting an Octoberfest celebration, so we caught a live band, threw some horseshoes, and downed some cheap microbrews.
