The Chicks

Oh, ya...a while ago we got chicks! We have 2 Ameracaunas (Heloise and Flannery) and 2 black Australorps (Winston and Katharine our Presiding Bishop). Og definately rules the roost. No eggs yet, but as the weather warms and the gals get a bit older, Og's gonna have plenty of eggs for his world-famous frittatas.

Ashy

Well, after saying goodbye to meats, sweets and booze for a while, Og headed to the Ash Wednesday service where he became ever-mindful of his lifelong deterioration into dust. Here he is looking a bit penitential.

Carnival

Last weekend Oggie threw a party to say farewell to meat, sweets and alcohol before his Lenten fast in preparation for his baptism at Easter.

Here he cleans up the house before guests to arrive.

After a coconut macaroon or two, he was showing off all his best moves.
And it's just not a party without his best buddy Ezekiel.
You can see Ogden's "steal the pacie" skills have become more sophisticated and now include the use of a food as a distraction.

A Friend From Afar

Shortly after Christmas a new little guy arrived at the Klatt house. He's about 15 inches tall and weighs a little over a pound, and he and Ogden are quickly on the way to becoming best friends. So here are a few photos of the wee lad hanging out in the new play room upstairs. (No we didn't add on to the house, it's just the other half of our bedroom, which has recently been repurposed.)

By the way, though you may see German impostors under the name Ole. Ogden's buddy has informed us that he hails from Scandinavia and goes by the name of Finnerik the Red, or Finnerik the Great works, too.

So Long Thanksgiving

Good grief, is it still Turkey Day '08 around here? Well dear readers, if there are any of you left after that 2 month stall, Mom is taking over and moving the Klatts into 2009. So in the spirit of hope, change and progress, here is an update on the Querque Klatt holidays. Click on the photos to see the full web albums.

Just before Christmas, the Pittmans arrived and whisked us all away to beautiful Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Oggie enjoyed some time for quiet reflections and a cleansing soak in the hot springs to close out the advent season.

Trim up the tree! Og was delighted when Cito and Dad brought a nine-foot evergreen right into the house.

Christmas Day in the morning.
Presents!

And wonder upon wonders: after all of the glorious Christmas festivities at home and a joyful service at St. John's, Ogden awoke from his afternoon nap to find a birthday party, his birthday party!
Birthday

The day after Christmas, we were off again, this time to ski Pajarito. Ogden had a blast playing in the snow, and he surprised us all with his flexibility in napping on Dad's jacket on the floor of the lodge.

For his first trip of 2009, Ogden headed south to visit Nana in Tatum. He had a great time trying new things like yard darts and Nana's famous macaroni and cheese.

Turkey Day

Og's first extra-utero Thanksgiving was great! Mom made a yummy spread, with assistance from Cita, Gran and Aunt Cyndee; uncles Paul and Dave kept Og entertained; and Granddad and Cito (formerly Daddy Curtis) caught up over a few homebrews. Even though our furniture was in perpetual shuffle, no one even noticed that we lost 700 square feet in house size.

Turkey Time

So we started a new tradition this year: the 'harvesting' of the Thanksgiving turkey. We cruised up to the Los Poblanos farm, picked our hen, and went to work. Og was, uh, not sure about the whole thing.
